Delphi Automotive plc announced that Rodney O’Neal will retire as CEO and president on March 1, 2015, ending his 43-year career at the global automotive supplier.
Delphi announced the news Sept. 9.
Delphi, with operations headquarters in Troy, Mich., is the 13th largest global auto supplier, according to Automotive News, a sister publication of Plastics News. It comes in at 97 on PN's raking of North America's largest injection molders, with an estimated $63.2 million in injection molding sales alone in 2013. Delphi plastics production is used in auto electronics, safety controls and thermal systems.
O’Neal’s successor will be Kevin Clark, who will be promoted from chief financial officer and executive vice president to become executive vice president effective Oct. 1.
Delphi said O’Neal, 61, will stay on in an advisory role until the end of 2015.
Mark Murphy will become CFO and executive vice president, succeeding Clark in those posts effective Oct. 1. Murphy was president of U.S. industrial gases at Praxair Inc.
Jack Krol, Delphi’s chairman of the board, said: “Rodney O’Neal has been an exceptional CEO in guiding Delphi’s transformation and positioning it as an industry leader. After successfully leading the company through its Chapter 11 restructuring, Rod took Delphi public with its IPO in 2011, generating significant shareholder value.”
Under O’Neal’s leadership, Delphi’s market capitalization has increased more than three-fold, to $21 billion, Krol said.
