Up to 22 new plastics recycling jobs are coming to northwest Indiana as Padnos Plastic Solutions Inc. expands.
Through a project in Fremont, Ind., that’s expected to be operational by early next year, the Holland, Mich.-based company plans to create all of the new jobs by 2016, according to the Indiana Economic Development Corp.
Padnos Plastic Solutions wants to begin hiring for certain positions, equipment operators and lab technicians, later this month, the state said. Other positions, operation managers, material engineers and sales executives, will be filled within a year.
The move into Indiana, company President Jeff Padnos said in a statement, was “a natural” as the firm has vendors, customers and partners in the region.
“Our plastics plant in Michigan has reached full capacity and it made a lot of sense to go somewhere far, but not too far. Indiana is known to be a great place to do business and the initial experience with the local municipality is proving that notion accurate,” Padnos said in the statement.
Padnos Plastic Solutions is renovating an existing 120,000-square-foot facility for the new operation.
The company is receiving up to $75,000 in conditional tax credits and up to $40,000 in training grants from the economic development corporation. Fremont also is offering incentives that were not specified by the state.
Padnos Plastic Solutions is a unit of Padnos Inc., which also recycles metal, paper and electronics. |
